1) Choose Your Axle Style and Size  - use Axles Pegs with built-in hubcaps, or dowel rods with dowel caps

2) Choose wooden axles that are just smaller than the whole size of your wooden wheels for a free spinning wheel where the axle is glued in place, or choose a tight fit dowel with or without axle caps for assembly that has the axle spinning.
